Battleground Live Reporting - Datasets, Pivots and Word Reports
The new enhanced reporting in Battleground Live. It covers the new reports screen, the updated pivots/CSVs, and how Word reports + templates/data sets have moved and expanded a bit, so worth a watch if you use reporting at all.
Overview of New and Enhanced Reporting in Battleground Live
1. Open the new Reports screen 0:00
- Go to Reports in Battleground Live.
- You’ll see a new screen that gives a clearer view of available report types.
- The new layout separates and highlights:
- Pivots
- CSVs
- Word reports
2. Use the legacy menu if you want the old pivots and CSVs 0:23
- Existing users can still access the legacy menu for older pivots and CSVs.
- Nothing has changed for those legacy reports.
- The new pivots and CSVs use a new field-gathering method that provides:
- More complete data
- More fields to choose from
- More flexible report views
3. Open and customize a pivot report 0:49
- Click any pivot to open it.
- As before, it may take a few seconds to load.
- The new pivots include many more fields, so you can slice and dice the data more deeply.
- If you need a specific field, use the search bar at the top.
- Then drag and drop the fields you want into the pivot.
4. Run Word reports from the Reports menu 1:32
- Word reports are no longer limited to BIAs or Critical Operations.
- You can now run them from the Reports menu as well.
- From there, you can:
- Choose the BAAs you want
- Give the report a name
- Run the report
5. Continue using Word reports inside BAAs 1:50
- You can still generate Word reports the traditional way inside a BIA.
- Use the down arrows or ticks to complete the report.
- This keeps the in-BAA workflow available for users who prefer it.
6. Find Word report templates in the new configuration location 2:10
- Word template management has moved in Configuration.
- Instead of being under BIAs, templates are now under:
- Company → Word Report Templates
- This change supports Word reports across more parts of the system, not just BAAs.
7. Add datasets to build out Word reports 2:39
- Word reports are being expanded across modules over time.
- A module is considered built out when you can add datasets.
- Datasets are the tables or chunks of information that can be inserted into a Word report.
- You can add multiple datasets to a single report.
- If a module does not yet have datasets, it is not fully built out yet.
- In that case, you can contact the team to have them added.
8. Use the template instructions if you need help 3:18
- If you are unsure how a template works, click to view or print the template instructions.
- This opens guidance that explains:
- How the coding works
- What each code means
- How to use the template correctly
9. Expect more reporting enhancements over time 3:36
- More reports will continue to be added.
- Future updates will include:
- More enhanced Word reports
- More pivots for different modules
- The overall goal is to expand reporting flexibility across the system.
