Navigating the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) Dashboard
The objective of this SOP is to guide team members on how to effectively navigate the Business Impact Analysis (BIA) dashboard, apply filters, and interpret the insights available within the various data visualisations.
Key Steps
- Accessing the BIA Dashboard:
- Navigate to the BIA dashboard by clicking on "BIA" in the left panel and then selecting "BIA Dashboard".
- Applying Filters:
- At the top of the dashboard, apply filters based on business unit, department, organisation, team, BIA, location, critical operation, or critical sub-operation.
- Click on the filter boxes and select the required criteria.
- Click on "Apply Filter" to update the dashboard.
- Use the "Clear Filter" option to start fresh if needed.
- Exploring BIA Statistics:
- In the statistics tab, observe the large blocks representing categories like key processes, BIA people, and dependencies.
- Each block displays the number of items within the category.
- Click on individual categories to delve deeper into specific data insights.
- Analysing Criticality:
- View pie charts illustrating critical processes across scenarios like max, value, and peak.
- Understand the criticality levels of processes based on timeframes ranging from immediate to eventually.
- Reviewing IT Applications:
- Explore pie charts categorising IT applications by recovery time objective (RTO) and recovery point objective (RPO).
- Filter data by RTO and RPO using the drop-down menus to understand restoration and data loss requirements.
- Assessing Dependencies:
- Filter dependencies by reliance levels such as minimal, partial, or total reliance.
- Analyse pie charts depicting reliance levels for total, internal, and external dependencies to identify areas of high dependence.
- Examining Distribution:
- In the distribution tab, observe a bubble chart representing IT applications, internal, or external dependencies.
- Click on bubbles to view detailed information about applications and their impact on the organisation.
Cautionary Notes
- Ensure to select relevant filters to obtain accurate insights.
- Avoid making changes without understanding the implications on the data visualisation.
Tips for Efficiency
- Familiarise yourself with the different sections of the BIA dashboard to navigate efficiently.
- Regularly update filters to reflect current data and make informed decisions.
- Click on various data visualisations to gain in-depth insights into critical processes, dependencies, and IT applications.
