Managing IT Applications and Dependencies
To effectively manage external and internal dependencies, as well as IT applications within the organisation's processes.
Key Steps:
- Adding External Dependencies:
- Click on "Manage Dependencies" and then "Add Dependency."
- Select the dependency type as "service provider/contact."
- Choose the service provider from the list or create a new one.
- Input contact information, reliance level, manual workarounds, and any attachments.
- Save the dependency.
- Adding Internal Dependencies:
- Choose from asset type/asset, job title, person, business unit, department, or BIA.
- Specify the dependency within the selected category.
- Managing IT Applications:
- Click on "Manage Application" and then "Add Application."
- Select a previously added IT application or create a new one.
- Provide a description if necessary.
- Input Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Recovery Point Objective (RPO), reliance, manual workarounds, workaround longevity, notes, and attachments.
- Save the application.
- Copying Applications or Dependencies:
- To copy applications or dependencies from another BIA:
- Select the BIA to copy from.
- Choose the relevant process and applications to copy.
- Save the changes.
- To copy applications or dependencies from another BIA:
Cautionary Notes:
- Ensure that all contact information and details are accurately entered to avoid miscommunication.
- Double-check the selections and information before saving to prevent errors in the dependencies and applications.
Tips for Efficiency:
- Keep a record of all dependencies and applications to easily track and manage them.
- Regularly update and review the dependencies and applications to ensure relevance and accuracy.
