Managing IT Applications and Dependencies

To effectively manage external and internal dependencies, as well as IT applications within the organisation's processes.

Key Steps:

  1. Adding External Dependencies:
    • Click on "Manage Dependencies" and then "Add Dependency."
    • Select the dependency type as "service provider/contact."
    • Choose the service provider from the list or create a new one.
    • Input contact information, reliance level, manual workarounds, and any attachments.
    • Save the dependency.
  2. Adding Internal Dependencies:
    • Choose from asset type/asset, job title, person, business unit, department, or BIA.
    • Specify the dependency within the selected category.
  3. Managing IT Applications:
    • Click on "Manage Application" and then "Add Application."
    • Select a previously added IT application or create a new one.
    • Provide a description if necessary.
    • Input Recovery Time Objective (RTO), Recovery Point Objective (RPO), reliance, manual workarounds, workaround longevity, notes, and attachments.
    • Save the application.
  4. Copying Applications or Dependencies:
    • To copy applications or dependencies from another BIA:
      • Select the BIA to copy from.
      • Choose the relevant process and applications to copy.
      • Save the changes.

Cautionary Notes:

  • Ensure that all contact information and details are accurately entered to avoid miscommunication.
  • Double-check the selections and information before saving to prevent errors in the dependencies and applications.

Tips for Efficiency:

  • Keep a record of all dependencies and applications to easily track and manage them.
  • Regularly update and review the dependencies and applications to ensure relevance and accuracy.
