What are the different roles in Battleground Live?

There are several roles available based on the modules you use. Below is a summary of them and the functionality available per role

Manager (Risk / Resilience) - Any role with Manager in the title has the ability to administer the relevant sections. This includes configuration and user management. They can see the ALL and MY sections in each menu item.

User (Risk / Resilience) - Any role with User in the title can use the relevant modules in the section through the My screens. They can add, edit and sometimes delete their own work. They cannot add/edit/delete configuration items. They cannot add/edit/delete users.

Read-Only - Read-Only User and/or Manager has the same level of access as those above but can only VIEW the data.

Specialist Roles

Resilience Escalated User - Same as Resilience User but has the ability to add/edit users
Policy Manager
- Access to the Policy Manager module. There is also a read-only Policy Manager role.
Touchbase - Access to the Touchbase module.
Threat Intelligence - Access to the Threat Intelligence module.
Compliance Manager - Access to the Compliance module (under Risk Intelligence).

Sim Facilitator - Create, edit, manage and facilitate simulations
Sim Participant - Participate in simulations. Cannot view the simulation builder

Crisis Manager 

  • Authority & Scope
    • Has elevated permissions compared to standard users.
    • Can approve incidents that have been reported and initiate new incidents directly from the web or mobile app.
  • Key Capabilities
    • Receives notifications when the “big green button” is used in the mobile app.
    • Can edit and add new response teams, roles, and external contacts.
    • Can view and edit their own Plans and Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), as well as all reports and CSV exports.
  • Operational Actions
    • Responsible for acknowledging incidents, pressing “Report Incident” to convene the team for the first meeting.
    • Oversees escalation and activation of teams during a crisis.

Incident Manager 

  • Focus & Responsibilities
    • Primarily manages the execution of tasks within an incident once it is activated.
    • Works within the incident structure to coordinate actions, update checklists, and monitor progress.
  • Key Functions
    • Handles incident details, assessment questions, and task completion tracking.
    • Uses built-in chat and questionnaires to communicate with relevant personnel.
    • Ensures accurate logging of all changes for audit purposes.
  • Escalation
    • Can escalate issues within the incident but does not have authority to initiate or approve incidents (reserved for Crisis Managers).
